Mirror Shape Play – Relaxed Morning Sessions

Come and play at our fun, sensory, child-inspired exhibition Mirror Shape Play during relaxed hours. These mornings are designed to be more comfortable and accessible for children who are disabled and/or neurodiverse.
Actions and resources include:
- Dedicated chill out room – calm, quiet space away from the exhibition with foam floor mats, low lighting, blankets, pillows and drawing materials
- Low level lighting in the gallery
- Ear defenders are available to borrow
- Sound within galleries will be turned down
- Signs will be placed around the gallery encouraging visitors to contribute to the calm and relaxed atmosphere
- Staff will be briefed on neurodiversity and how to make everyone’s visit a positive experience
- Sensory box available at front desk – includes items like a fidget spinner, tactile fabric, torch etc.
A visual story guide of the exhibition is available on our access page, click here to find out more: access page
