Curious Tots

Curious Tots is our creative session for babies and toddling toddlers. It provides time and space to connect and bond with your baby, away from the hubbub and expectations of the outside world. This term, Curious Tots will welcome two new artists to lead the sessions, Lucy McDonald and Matt Shaw.   

Lucy and Matt have years of experience working with families in nurseries, museums, galleries and creative spaces. Together you will explore sound through fun, sensory experiences – listening, making, and mirroring sounds designed especially for our youngest visitors.  

Listen to recordings of nature/wildlife in the Orleans House Gallery woodland and grounds. Make your own sounds using materials such as crinkly paper, small shakers and wooden spoons. Most importantly, spend time watching your little one – where do they look? What do they reach out towards? What captures their interest? Gently guided by Lucy or Matt, this session will create the space and time to notice, respond to and cherish these moments.

• Suitable for babies and toddling toddlers, children must be accompanied by an adult   

• Sessions are fortnightly on Tuesdays  

• Tickets are £6 full price, £4 concessions per session

Play and Imagination 

These sessions are an important part of the build-up to a new exhibition exploring Play and Imagination which will open at the gallery in April 2026. The exhibition will consider how important play and imagination is for all age groups.

At Curious Tots, you’ll help us shape the exhibition and share what play means to you, and why imagination matters no matter your age or background.
