Let’s Get Creative – March
Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of drawing, writing and playing our way into acquiring superhero powers!
What if Google existed in your brain?
What if, like a bat, you could use your senses to navigate in the dark?
What if you could change your body as easily as downloading an app?
What if you could see in the dark like a cat?
The legacy of the Lines of Dissent exhibition and playful answers to such questions will provide the basis for a quirky and fun creative workshop. Together we’ll tap into children’s (and adults!) love of superheroes to consider what our genetic heritage didn’t give us. Inspired by examples from popular culture such as Doctor Who, The Matrix and The Marvel Universe as well as some of the artworks from Lines of Dissent, we will ask what genes we would edit in or out of our genetic make-ups in order to access the kind of powers superheroes have.
The session will start at 2pm and finish at 4pm, children and their carers should be present for the duration of the workshop (unlike previous drop-in sessions).
Let’s Get Creative is aimed at families with children aged 4-11 years, though all are welcome. Sessions are free and run regularly throughout the year. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
