Open days to watch the artist create the exhibition:

Tuesday 6 August – Sunday 11 August

Come watch the building process as the Templum is papered!

Kate says of the process: We stretch industrial waxed kraft paper, initially used to ship machine parts, over aluminium armature wire. The paper is sewn together on an industrial machine. Then we crumple and flatten it several times. After that, it is hot glued to the aluminium skeleton. We call this process “skinning”, as in adding skin. We recycle every piece of the Templum. Every time she rises, we patch her, and reuse all her old and twisted metal. Every time she grows, we add more. So, there are pieces that are so wrinkled and patched they feel ancient, and pieces that are going through the machine for the first time today and haven’t even been crinkled yet!

No need to book, just turn up on the day.

Kirtan Performance

Saturday 17 August, 3-4.30pm

We are honoured to have the musical group ‘Atmasfera’ perform in ‘The Templum. The brilliant twin sisters are refugees from Ukraine who bring the beauty of Kirtan to our community. Kirtan is a practice of call and response singing which originated in ancient Hindu communities. Derived from a Sanskrit root meaning to call, recite, praise, or glorify, Kirtan brings us closer to a sense of Divinity. Kirtan in ‘The Templum allows us to seek and feel a sensation of Divinity without exclusion of any one particular belief system. The Templum is a place to lay down bias and come together.

Expanding your Practice Workshop

Wednesday 21 August, 10am-1pm

Howe and their partner in practice, Sally Minns, will share what they have learned about life in the generative (where something comes from). They will explain how everyone, even with no training, can find the artist they already are. Everyone can eventually establish a practice. We will be drawing and writing on waxed paper, walking, talking, noticing.

This workshop is open for everyone aged 15 upwards.

Deep Body Relaxation

Wednesday 18 September, 3-4.30pm

Switch off, sink down, journey in. We will talk briefly about meditation, relaxation and also about what nourishes us and what depletes us. We will take a short walk and learn a simple meditation to help us feel present in our bodies at this moment. We will then enter the Templum. Howe will guide us into deep, whole-body relaxation and journeying.

Please be prepared to lie on the floor both inside and out. If you have a yoga mat, please bring it with you.
