To the Ground, London College of Communication Pop-up Exhibition
The forest as a community of sensitive and intelligent beings is an idea that has been central to Indigenous thought for centuries. We are only now beginning to grasp the critical importance of this way of thinking.
Nine students studying MA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the London College of Communication present ‘To the Ground’. Together they visualise what it means to stand alongside and nurture a relationship with a species.
Students were invited by Orleans House Gallery to collaborate with at least one species found at our riverside location. Their works aim to decentralise the human viewpoint; to walk in-step with ecology. Alternative perceptions of time and space are essential to such generative reimaginings. Each of the featured collaborations seeks to induce a sense of ‘tree-time’.
Join us to pause, and consider: what does it mean to stand alongside nature? What might be the cost of ignoring its rich gifts?
This is part of the Cultural Reforesting programme at Orleans House Gallery.
