In Conversation with Anagram and Monica Gagliano

This is a recorded conversation between legendary scientist and researcher Monica Gagliano and co-creator of artist group Anagram (winners of 2021 Grand Jury Prize, Best VR at Venice Film Festival) May Abdalla from Anagram. The conversation is introduced and facilitated by Andy Franzkowiak of Orleans House Gallery and Richmond Arts Service. The recording was made on 12 October 2021.  

The conversation was held in anticipation of bringing Anagram’s immersive audio experience, Messages to a Post Human Earth, to Orleans House Gallery on 22-24th October 2021. This interactive, multi-sensorial journey through the beautiful grounds of the Orleans House Gallery, where you and your partner will embark on an evocative audio journey featuring augmented reality (AR), to reimagine your relationship with the natural world. The work of Monica Galliano was a huge inspiration for the piece and this was a great moment to get May and Monica together to discuss their practices and considers our connection with nature.  

This is part of our Cultural Reforesting programme, an expansive 3 year multidisciplinary and cross-cultural collection of art and science projects responding to the question; how can we renew our relationship with nature?
