Orleans House Gallery is inviting submissions from artists living or working in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames for our Winter Show.

The open-call exhibition provides a platform for Richmond based artists committed to developing their practice. All work will be available to buy. It is free to take part however, Orleans House Gallery will take 40% commission on works sold.

The exhibition will coincide with our Christmas Shopping Weekend on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December. The Christmas Shopping Weekend offers makers, designers, artisans, and artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their products in the run up to Christmas. This weekend is sure to attract visitors from across West London interested in the unique pieces featured.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to have work exhibited as part of a group exhibition in the Stables Gallery from Thursday 1 December – Sunday 8 January. Submissions are welcome across visual and contemporary artforms, both 2D and 3D. Your submission may be artwork you are already working on or something you will work on over the next month in response to the stimulus.

Orleans House Gallery will curate the exhibition, selecting artworks to be included based on:

  • relevance to our community
  • alignment with our values below

Collaborative – we work with people in innovative and inspiring ways, we invite artists, communities and individuals to create the public programme with us and help develop the Arts Service.

Socially engaged – we respond to the needs and wishes of local people, widen participation in the arts and connect people from different backgrounds, enabling them to have a say over issues that affect them, and promoting opportunity particularly for underrepresented groups

Experimental – through the arts we test new ideas and approaches and share our learning to support the work of the borough. This might involve being playful, adventurous and taking risks.

Enterprising – we will always be open to new ways of working, sustain and develop productive partnerships and seek to find ways to make our work financially sustainable and develop inward investment for the arts

Orleans House Gallery will

  • Provide the exhibition space and organise an opening event
  • Curate and install the exhibition
  • Process art sales
  • Publicise the exhibition
  • Provide invigilation of the exhibition
