Long Table – What Moves You?

Join us for a special Long Table discussion in the What Moves You? exhibition.  

Developed by acclaimed artist and academic Lois Weaver, the Long Table is an innovative public forum that combines elements of performance, installation, discussion and social gathering. Described as ‘a performance of a dinner party where conversation is the only course’, it offers a welcoming and inclusive space for people to share ideas, experiences and perspectives. 

The discussion begins with a group gathered around a table (artists and researchers participating in the exhibition), with empty chairs available for anyone who would like to contribute. Participants are invited to join the conversation by taking a seat at the table and can leave whenever they choose. The format encourages open dialogue, active listening and the exchange of different viewpoints. 

Together, we will explore themes emerging from What Moves You?, including identity, inclusion, belonging and representation, and consider how these connect to our experiences of diversity, equality, community and place. 

The event will be facilitated by Robert Lee, an experienced cultural leader and diversity specialist who has spent more than four decades championing artists, developing audiences and creating opportunities for communities to engage with the arts. 

No need to book, join us at any time between 3-5.30pm, take part and join the table or simply be present in the room and listen to the discussions.
