Are you an artist, living or working in Richmond Upon Thames? Orleans House Gallery is inviting submissions from artists living or working in the Borough for our annual Winter Show at Orleans House Gallery.

The open-call exhibition provides a platform for Richmond-based artists committed to developing their practice. It is free for artists to apply and, if selected, take part in the exhibition. All selected artists will have the opportunity to sell their work as part of the exhibition.

The exhibition will run from 4 December 2026 until 7 February 2027 and the opening weekend coincides with our Christmas Shopping Weekend on5 and 6 December.

The Christmas Shopping Weekend offers designers, makers, and artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their products in the run up to Christmas. This popular Christmas event attracts large local audiences and visitors from across West London and further afield.

More Information about the Opportunity

Submissions are welcome across visual and contemporary artforms, both 2D and 3D. Your submission may be artwork that you have already produced, or a new work in response to this call out.

We are looking for work that reflects the diversity, creativity and ambition of artists in Richmond upon Thames. As we curate the exhibition, we’ll be considering:

  • Local Perspectives – Work that reflects local places, people, experiences or ideas, or offers a unique perspective on the world around us.
  • Creative Exploration – Work that demonstrates curiosity, experimentation or thoughtful use of materials, processes and ideas.
  • Exhibition Potential – Original artworks that will contribute to a varied modular exhibition setting.

As the exhibition takes place during the busy winter season, we’re also looking for work that has the potential to connect with visitors and collectors.

We welcome applications from artists at all stages of their careers and particularly encourage submissions from individuals and communities that are currently underrepresented in gallery spaces.

We hope this exhibition provides an accessible opportunity for artists to share their work with new audiences. There is no fee to submit your work.

Orleans House Gallery will

  • Provide the exhibition space and organise an opening event
  • Curate and install the exhibition
  • Process art sales
  • Publicise and promote the exhibition
  • Provide invigilation of the exhibition

How to apply

Please complete the application form below. A PDF version is available for computer accessibility. Printed copies are available at the Orleans House Gallery reception.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm on Wednesday 23 September 2026.

Applicants may submit one artwork for consideration by the selection panel, comprising of the Orleans House Gallery team and invited local artist(s).

Each artist may submit one artwork only, even if they work under multiple names or both individually and as part of a collective.

We anticipate a high volume of applications, and unfortunately not all submissions will be selected for exhibition.

If your application is successful, the artwork you submitted as part of your application should be the artwork exhibited. Please therefore submit the work you would like us to consider for the exhibition. We are unable to accept alternative artworks after the selection process has taken place.

If you have any queries, please email info@orleanshousegallery.org or call 020 8831 6000.
